What happens when I cancel?
Your subscription remains active until the end of your billing period. After that, you keep all Free features — free tier dictation continues working. You only lose access to AI text cleanup features.
Can I use my own API key?
Yes. Dictaro uses a Bring Your Own Key (BYOK) model. Pick your AI provider from the dropdown, paste your API key, and everything auto-configures — model selection, API endpoint, everything. Your text goes directly to your chosen provider — Dictaro never sees it.
Is my audio data stored?
No. Audio is processed in server RAM and immediately deleted after transcription. It is never stored on disk. Dictaro does not retain or have access to your audio recordings.
What AI providers are supported?
OpenAI, Anthropic (native support), Groq, Mistral, Google Gemini, and OpenRouter — all built-in with smart defaults. For local AI, Ollama works without any API key. Any other OpenAI-compatible endpoint can be configured manually.
Is there a free trial for Pro?
Yes! All new users get 7 days of unlimited Pro access. No credit card required. After the trial, free tier dictation continues with a daily allowance. Upgrade to Pro anytime for unlimited access and AI text cleanup.
Do I need an account to use Dictaro?
No. The Free tier works without any account. You only need to sign in if you want to subscribe to Pro for AI features.
Does Dictaro work offline?
Dictation requires an internet connection since audio is processed on our servers. However, if you use a local AI model via Ollama for text cleanup, that part works entirely offline.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express) through Stripe. Your payment information is handled securely by Stripe — Dictaro never stores your card details.
Do I need a paid API key for BYOK?
It depends on your provider. Most providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.) require a paid API key. However, Ollama lets you run local models completely free. The BYOK feature is optional — it is only needed for AI text cleanup in Pro.
